Gold price soars, touches Rs. 66,000 mark

The price of gold has once again surged, reaching Rs. 66,000 per sovereign on March 18. In response to international economic trends, gold prices in India have been fluctuating.
The upward trend began on January 29 this year. By January 31, the price of one sovereign of jewelry gold had crossed Rs. 61,000, and the next day, it surpassed Rs. 62,000. The price continued to climb, reaching Rs. 64,480 on February 11 and Rs. 64,560 on February 20.
Although there were slight declines in the following days, the price surged again on February 25, touching Rs. 64,600. Since then, fluctuations continued, with gold selling at Rs. 63,120 per sovereign on February 16 before gradually rising again to Rs. 64,440.
On March 18, gold prices saw another increase, reaching Rs. 66,000 per sovereign. In Chennai, the price of 22-carat gold jewelry rose by Rs. 40 per gram, selling at Rs. 8,250 per gram, while the price per sovereign increased by Rs. 320. Meanwhile, the price of silver remains unchanged at Rs. 113 per gram.
