The DMK MPs' consultative meeting was held at Anna Arivalayam, Chennai, where a resolution was passed demanding that the Governor be given a deadline for signing state government files and bills.
The meeting was chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin, with the participation of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members from the party.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to discuss the Union Government’s budget for the financial year 2025-26. Chief Minister Stalin provided guidelines to the MPs on how to approach the budget session, emphasising discussions on Tamil Nadu’s financial issues in Parliament.
Key resolutions passed in the meeting included: Setting a timeframe for the Governor to approve state government bills and files. Formulating a code of conduct for the Governor until their removal from office.
Urging Parliament to withdraw the UGC's draft rules. Highlighting that iron was introduced to Tamil Nadu 5,870 years ago. Requesting new railway projects for Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget.
The DMK aims to push these issues forward in parliament while ensuring the state’s interests are addressed in the upcoming budget discussions.
