Govt decides to erect 180 feet high idol in Thindal Murugan temple

On the order of the Chief Minister, it has been announced in the legislative assembly that a new 180 feet tall statue of Lord Murugan will be erected in Thindal Arulmiku Velayudaswamy temple at a cost of Rs 30 crore. 
Lakhs of devotees visit this temple throughout the year. Subsequently, based on the long-standing demand of the people of Erode district to erect a tall Murugan statue in this temple, the Minister of Housing has brought the subject to the attention of the Chief Minister.    
In the vote on account for the Hindu Religious Charities Department, the announcement was made. Besides, the hill pathway to the temple would be created at a cost of Rs 1.90 cr. 
Now, 50 people are getting annadanam daily in the temple. It will be increased to 200 devotees on Tuesdays and Fridays, Amavasi days, Monthly Sashti and Krittikai days and 500 devotees during annual shashti festival days considering the visit of large number of devotees to the temple.
