People have just recovered from the corona virus, so that the government should control the steep rise in prices of essential goods and abandon the hike in electricity tariff immediately, TMC state general secretary and former MLA Vidiyal Sekar while paying tribute to the portrait of freedom fighter Theeran Chinnamalai at Erode on his 217th memorial day.
He also pleaded to the government to incude Theeran history in textbooks and construct an entrance arch at the entry point of Theeran memorial at Erode-Kangayam main road. Party functionaries Vijayakumar, P Arumugam, SD Chandrasekar, Rafiq, Suresh and many others participated.
PMK: PMK State President and MLA GK Mani garlanded the statue of Theeran at the Theeran Memorial Hall. He told reporterd that Theeran martyrdom is admirable. Anyone can come to pay tribute to such players, so it is not wrong for the Governor to come to pay his respects.
Referring to Kallakurichi incident, he said the government should take steps to check students suicide incidents which occurred mostly due to pressure on their studies and
wanted steps to check sales of narcotics such as ganja and opium which has been increasing in recent days.
Even in front of the student hostels, they were sold. If the police put their minds to it, we can control the evil of drugs, he added.
Cong: Former Congress MLA RM Palanichami, South District President Makkal Rajan and Tirupur North District President Gopi, after paying homage at Theeran Mani Mandapam, told the reporters that when RM Palanichami was the MLA of this Modakurichi area, it was decided not to put up posters of any party in the area when Theeran Chinnamalai vizha was celebrated every year. The decision was taken at the all-party meeting of the government. But now there BJP violated the norm by pasting many posters in the area. So, we have lodged a complaint with the SP.
Peravai: Kongunadu Youth Peravai State President Gopal Ramesh condemned the police for banning other organizations from paying tribute for 2 hours in the memorial due to the Tamil Nadu Governor's visit to the Memorial Hall.
They had set aside separate time for over 30 outfits from morning to evening to pay tributes at the Mani Mandapam, but for about 2 hours from 11 o'clock, other organizations were prohibited from visiting.
Such ban could not be enforced in Devar and Emmanuel Shekaran vizha. He said BJP invited Governor to the function. But it could not help the party to grow, he asserted.
