Govt urged to restore subsidy for LPG

Govt urged to restore subsidy for LPG

Congress minorities wing district president J Suresh and  vice presidents KN Batcha and MM Harshad appealed to the Centre to restore subsidy for LPG refills as given during the previous Congress rule.

They said that the Centre announced Rs200 subsidy for 9 cr families who are getting refills under the PM Ujjwala Diwas Yojana. It means, crores of other consumers, including many  poor and middle class, have to pay over Rs 1037 without any subsidy.  It is a great injustice to them who were already suffering due to steep rise in prices of many essential goods, while inflation touching an highest 7.5 percent.

So,  the Centre should give Rs 200 subsidy for all consumers and DMK rule should also give Rs 100 per refill as subsidy and reduce the price of diesel as assured in its manifesto. They said due to  reduction of excise duty, petrol and diesel prices came down from Rs 111.33 and Rs 101.44 per litre to Rs 103.12 and Rs 94.74 respectively in Erode.

It means reduction of price by Rs 8.21 and 6.71 respectively. It is not enough as the prices were hiked many times during the BJP rule in the past 8 years though the international price came down much. So,  the Centre should remove the cess on petrol and diesel and thus reduce the price further to give some more relief to the consumers.
