The Graduation Day Ceremony of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women (PSGR KCW) saw 2,540 graduating students receive their degrees across four distinct sessions, each graced by a distinguished Chief Guest. 50 Special Awards were also presented to the rank holders from various disciplines.
The Chief Guests included, Dr.N.Kalaiselvi, Director General, , CSIR & Secretary, DSIR, Government of India, New Delhi, Mr. Srikanth Venkatraman, Chief Executive Officer, ICT Academy, Chennai, Mr. R. Ramanan, Chairperson, National Expert Advisory Council DST, Government of India, Former Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission and Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog, New Delhi and Dr. Mohammad Rihan, Director General, National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), and Professor of Electrical Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh. Dr. N. Yesodha Devi, Secretary, and Dr. P.B. Harathi, Principal of PSGR KCW, were also present on the occasion. The Graduation Day Ceremony conducted under the able guidance of Dr.R.Nandini, Chairperson of the college, saw proud parents of the graduating students attend in large numbers.
Dr.Kalaiselvi, in her address, expressed her delight at being part of the graduation ceremony of such an iconic institution. She reflected on how societal perceptions of women have transformed over time. She mentioned that while there was a time when people used to ask what women can do, today the question has changed to what is it that women cannot do. She pointed out that this transformation has been enabled by one powerful tool – education.
Ms. Kalaiselvi applauded the parents for recognizing that the greatest gift they could give their daughters is education, and she praised the faculty for their pivotal role in shaping the character, confidence, and competence of the graduating students.
She urged the graduates to take immense pride in belonging to an institution of such standing, reminding them that the confidence, guidance, and mentorship they received here would empower them to face real-world challenges with courage and excellence. She called upon them to become job creators through innovation and resourcefulness.
Urging the students to work diligently, she encouraged them to make their college, parents, teachers, organizations, and country proud through their unique contributions and achievements.
Dr.Kalaiselvi conferred degrees upon Post Graduate students from the departments of Humanities, Social Sciences, Basic Sciences, Computational Sciences, Commerce and Management.
Mr. Srikanth Venkatraman, in his address, urged the graduating students to always hold deep respect for their parents and teachers, acknowledging them as the guiding forces behind every success they achieve in life.
He encouraged the students to take immense pride in being alumni of KCW and to uphold its reputation wherever they go. He also reminded them to set an inspiring example for their younger siblings, serving as role models both within their families and beyond. Mr. Srikanth Venkatraman conferred degrees upon graduates from the departments of Basic Sciences and Computational Sciences.
Mr. Ramanan, in his speech, highlighted the importance of women’s education and the key role it plays in uplifting the entire society. He also touched upon how the rise of AI is transforming various industries. Mr. Ramanan awarded Degrees to the students from the Department of Commerce.
Dr. Mohammad Rihan, in his speech, mentioned that the students should take pride in graduating from the renowned institution. He urged them to hone their skills and make meaningful contributions to society and the nation. Dr. Rihan presented Degrees to graduates from Social Sciences, Humanities, and Management.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. Yesodha Devi described the graduation day ceremony as a moment of celebration, reflection, and hope for the graduating students. She emphasized that graduation is not just a milestone, but a tribute to hard work, perseverance, and personal growth.
She reminded the students that as they embark on a new chapter of their lives, the road ahead may not always be smooth or straightforward. Challenges are inevitable, she noted, but it is through overcoming these very challenges that their true potential will shine.
Dr. Yesodha Devi encouraged the graduates to carry forward the wealth of knowledge, skills, and unwavering spirit they have gained during their academic journey, confident that these strengths will serve them well in the years to come.
