Grand Gokulashtami celebrations held in Coimbatore

The city of Coimbatore witnessed vibrant celebrations on the occasion of Gokulashtami, as the Dharmacharya South Tamil Nadu organised the 12th annual Krishna Jayanti festival in the Sivananda Colony area on behalf of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The event, which was filled with devotion and cultural fervour, attracted significant participation from the local community.

Presided over by Sivalingam, the celebration saw the presence of several notable figures including VHP State Vice President N Paramasivam, District President Sivaraj, BJP District President Ramesh Kumar, Former District President Balaji Uttama Ramasamy, and BJP Youth District President Krishna Prasad, who collectively hoisted the ceremonial flag to inaugurate the festivities.

A highlight of the event was the grand parade, featuring more than 500 children dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha. The young participants, adorned in vibrant costumes, paraded through the streets of Sivananda Colony, captivating the onlookers with their charm. The procession culminated on the festival stage, where the children performed dances that delighted the audience.

The Gokulashtami festival, celebrated nationwide as the day marking Lord Krishna's incarnation, holds special significance for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, which also marked its 60th Foundation Day during the event. The celebrations began with a rally in the Ratnapuri area, where children dressed as Krishna and Radha marched with enthusiasm, setting the tone for the day’s events.

After the procession concluded at Sivananda Colony, a series of children's art performances were held. The boys and girls who took to the stage performed devotional songs and dances, showcasing their talents and devotion. The cultural showcase was followed by a magic show, which added a touch of wonder to the festivities, leaving the children and audience members in awe.

As a token of appreciation, prizes were distributed to all the children who participated in the event, making the day memorable for the young devotees.
