Grassroot innovations for the upliftment of SHGs

The Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore, in collaboration with National Innovation Foundation–India, Gandhinagar Gujarat organized the Inauguration of the project on ‘Dissemination of the Grassroot Innovations for the upliftment of Farm women and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) of  Coimbatore District’. Dr. S. Kowsalya, Registrar, Principal Investigator  of the project welcomed. The program was inaugurated by Dr. T. S. K Meenakshisundaram, Chancellor and Managing Trustee, Avinashilingam Educational Trust. Dr. V. Bharathi Harishankar, Vice Chancellor of the institute,
Dr. M.Sharmila, District Revenue Officer, Dr. Parthkumar P. Dave, -Research Associate National Innovation Foundation of India,   Smt. K. Muthulakshmi - Joint Director of Agriculture,  Mr. T.N. Venkat, President of Tamil Nadu Grass Root Innovative Association, Coimbatore,  Mr. Vivekanadan – Director Seva (Grassroot Innovations )Madurai, Lalith Maurya, Innovator from Lucknow, 
Mr. Shanmugam ‘Aloe vera Ayya’, Dr. S. Amsamani Dean School of Home Science  and Dr. M. Sylvia Subapriya, Professor and the Head of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition participated in the programme.
Seventy-eight farm women and  Self-Help Group women participated.The coconut  Multi tree climber device and the Gvilas pasand red guava saplings  were  distributed to the beneficiaries.  Dr. S.Thilakavathy, Assistant Professor, proposed the vote of thanks.
