“GRG Trust Founders’ Day Celebrated with Grandeur, Honoring Legacy and Vision”

Enthusiasm and reverence marked the ‘Founders Day 2025’ celebrations of PSGR KCW College for Women, held recently. While Kamal Bali, Managing Director & President, Volvo Group India, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest, D.Srinivasan, Managing Director, Sree Annapoorna Gowrishankar Hotels, Coimbatore was the Guest-of-Honour. The event was presided by G. Rangaswamy, Managing Trustee, GRG Trust, and Nandini Rangaswamy, Chairperson of the college. Dr. Santhi Duraisamy, Director, Sakthi Masala, and Dr. (Prof). S. Rajasekaran, Chairman, Dept of Orthopaedics & Spine Surgery, Ganga Hospital, were conferred with GRG Memorial Lifetime Achievement for Women and Men, respectively, on the occasion.
The KCW Brand Ambassadors – K. Asha Bhatt of the 1979 batch and Dr. V.Janaki of the 1995 batch were honoured on the occasion by the Chief Guest. The GRG Centre of Excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain Management was also inaugurated on the occasion.
Delivering the GRG Memorial Lecture, Kamal Bali said that it was an absolute delight to be present at the founders day of a great institution established by two towering personalities who clearly stand out as pioneers in the field of education. He said that he was inspired sharing the dais with so many iconic personalities of the city of Coimbatore.
The Chief Guest mentioned that he was impressed by the vision of the institution, the purpose and wisdom behind the same, and the commitment to the nation of the founders. He added that their motto was simple, yet profound – education is the road to empowerment. Kamal Bali said that women are critical for the future of any nation and that the students are going to play a key role in the future. He mentioned that they will be defining what the future India looks like and therefore their achievements, values, and leadership are going to play a key role. He called upon students to choose a purpose and pursue it with genuine passion, inspire and collaborate with other like-minded people, be self-aware, and learn how to respond to challenges and leverage opportunities that come their way in their journey.
He said that the country is in the spotlight because of 7 ‘Ds’ namely democracy, demography, digitalization, diversity, de-carbonization, determination and development and students have plenty of opportunities for growth and success. He praised the college for focusing on areas such as sustainability, AI, and digitalization, as they helped make the students future-ready. Guest-of-Honour Srinivasan in his speech recalling his long association with the college said that the institution was a temple of learning. He congratulated the college for having achieved the 7th ranking in NIRF rankings in 2024. He mentioned that the achievement was made possible due to the hard work of the students put in different areas such as academics, sports, NCC , etc.
Speaking about the two lifetime achievement award winners he said that it was a matter of pride for the city to have a healthcare specialist of Dr. Rajasekaran’s caliber. 
Congratulating and highlighting the achievement of  Shanthi Duraisamy, he pointed out how their company started with an investment of Rs.10, 000/- has today grown onto become an Rs.1300 crore turnover company.
Speaking after receiving the GRG Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award for Women, Dr. Santhi Duraisamy expressed her pride in receiving an award established in memory of the inspiring founder of the college, Chandrakanthi Govindarajulu, who, despite having limited formal education, strongly believed in empowering other women to pursue education and progress in life.
Citing examples from her inspiring journey, she emphasized the importance of being open to learning throughout life. She highlighted the numerous opportunities available for students to achieve success and urged them to respect and value their teachers.
Wishing the students the very best for their future, she encouraged them to rise in life in a way that brings pride to their alma mater. She reminded the students that when a woman is educated, she has the power to transform society for the better.
She further advised the students to wholeheartedly focus on their studies to achieve their dreams and, once they embark on their careers, to work with dedication and commitment.
In his speech, Dr. Rajasekaran highlighted that the significance of women’s education and empowerment has been recognized for centuries. He referenced verses from the ancient Tamil scripture ‘Naladiyar’, which emphasize that a woman’s true beauty lies not in her appearance or attire but in her knowledge and wisdom.
He said that the GRG trust has made a great contribution to women’s education and empowerment in our country. He mentioned that the fact that more than 1, 30,000 students have passed out of the college is indeed a monumental achievement. He lauded the vision of the founders Govindarajulu and Chandrakanthi Govindrajulu to start such a wonderful institution. 
Dr.Rajasekaran added that background or social strata don’t matter, but what is more important for students is to have aspirations and dreams and  how hard they were willing to work to realize them.  The KCW Brand Ambassadors – K. Asha Bhatt of the 1979 batch and Dr. V.Janaki of the 1995 batch were honoured on the occasion by the Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion Asha Bhatt said that she would like to dedicate the award to the management, staff and students of her era. Remembering Chandrakanthi Govindarajulu she said she exuded grace, compassion, humility, tolerance and service.
Dr. Janaki in her speech congratulated the college for organizing a memorable founder’s day celebration. She further added that how our college defines our personality depends on how we utilize the opportunities during our days as a student in the institution.
The launch of the GRG Centre of Excellence in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, set up in partnership with the CII Institute of Logistics, represented by K V Mahidhar, Executive Director and Head  was another highlight of the occasion.
Dr.P.B. Harathi, Principal of the college proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion.
