GKNM Hospital, in collaboration with the Indian Brachytherapy Society (IBS), has hosted a two-day national-level hands-on workshop on gynaecological brachytherapy at the hospital premises in the city on Saturday.
A statement from the hospital said that the workshop, featuring both theoretical and practical sessions, was designed to enhance the knowledge and competency of participants in the field of gynaecological brachytherapy.


Brachytherapy, a precise form of radiation delivered directly to the cancer site using special applicators, is an indispensable tool in the treatment of gynaecological cancers, significantly improving patient outcomes.
The delegates of the workshop were student radiation oncologists and young professionals to provide invaluable insights into the latest advancements in the field. Speakers and experts brought their expertise to improve practices and patient outcomes in gynaecological cancer treatment.


Hands-on session was provided on Saturday to the participants. This interactive session was designed to enhance participants' practical skills for precision treatment.
Cancer continues to be one of the most pressing health challenges globally, with its incidence steadily rising. Simultaneously, advancements in radiation oncology, particularly Brachytherapy, have significantly improved patient care, offering precision treatment with minimal toxicity.
