Handloom Secretary visits weavers society

Principal Secretary to the Handloom Department Dharmendra Pratap Yadav inspected the Chennimalai Industrial Weavers Co-operative Production and Marketing Society on Friday in the presence of the Commissioner of the Textile Department Vallalar and District Collector H. Krishnanunni. He Inspected the sales hall and the types of textiles produced.
Addressing weavers, he said ''the Government of Tamil Nadu is implementing several schemes for the development of handloom and powerloom weavers.  There are 188 handloom weavers 'co-operative societies and 51 powerloom weavers' co-operative societies functioning under the handloom sector in Erode district.  There are 56,583 handloom weavers and 7,283 powerloom weavers engaged in the weaving industry. The societies manufacture handloom varieties including bed sheets, pillowcases, mattresses, shawls, rugs, cora and cotton sarees etcSchemes like free electricity for weavers, savings and security scheme, retirement pension scheme, family pension scheme, green homes scheme, E-Mudra scheme etc,  are being implemented.

He said that projects like Pongal vetti, saree scheme and school uniform scheme are being implemented in the power loom co-operative societies. He then inspected the fabrics stored in the warehouse with the modern display room.Joint director Sarathi Supuraj, top officials , Natarajan, Tamilarasi and  P. Saravanan were present.
