In an apparent dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's talk in Chennai about a Tamil becoming a Prime Minister, Chief Minister Stalin said he would be happy if L.Murugan or Tamilisai Soundarajan, become the Prime Minister.
Replying to media persons in Mettur today regarding the charge that Amit Shaw made that DMK twice scuttled the possibility of a Tamil becoming the Prime Minister, Stalin said, "If he had stated that openly I would reply openly.
But still I want to say that I will be happy if a Tamilian is proposed as a Prime Ministerial candidate.
Dont know what anger is they have against Modi. If in the 2024 general elections if they really want to make a Tamilian as a Prime Minister, then there is a possibility that L.Murugan or Tamilisai Soundarajan may get a chance, he quipped.
Continuing his tirade on the BJP led Central Government Tamilnadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin said that no special schemes were sanctioned for Tamilnadu and the fund allocations were also lesser compared to other states.
The chief minister replied to questions by media persons who wanted know his reaction to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement about the centre's allocations to Tamilnadu.
Amit Shah who was on a two day visit to Tamilnadu was reacting to Stalin's address to party executives in Salem on Saturday in which he charged that BJP was depriving Tamilnadu in the last nine years.
Stalin clarified that what he was questioning was not the regular funds being allocated to all state. He said during the Congress-DMK UPA government under Dr.Manmohan Singh, Tamilnadu was allocated the Metro Train scheme, Classical Language status for Tamil, Research Centre for Classical Tamil, Sethu Canal Scheme, the Automobile Testing and Research Centre at Oragadam, Sidha Research and Analytical Centre at Tambaram, Sea Water Desalination Project, Chennai Maduravoyal-Port fly over, Ocean Studies Research Centre, Central University in Thiruvarur, Rs 400 crore Textile Park Schemes in Salem, Karur and Erode, Salem Railway Division etc. Did not Amit Shah see my statement clearly or did not take to him the right information? "I am not talking about regular allocations which all states get.
However he also said that Tamiladu's share in central fund allocation had been less compared to other states although the state had been the highest contributor towards the GST" he said.
On Edappadi K Palanisamy's charge that the DMK was merely naming and opening projects initiated by the AIADMK government, Stalin said that the Metro Train Project was initiated during the DMK rule and he as the Deputy Chief Minister had gone to Japan to woo investors for the project.
But the government changed before the completion of the project and Jayalalithaa who became the Chief Minister put her name on the project inaugural tablet. The Secretariat building constructed by the DMK government was converted into a hospital by Jayalalithaa and the Anna Centenary Library developed by the DMK had to be saved from destruction by the AIADMK government through court intervention.
Edaappadi Palanisamy should recollect these incidents said Stalin and said that he refused to officials's suggestion that stocks of school text books with Jayalalithaa and Edappadi K Palanisamy's images could be replaced because it would involve huge wastage of financial resources which the government will not bear.
Stalin also reiterated that the Amma Canteens were still functioning although the AIADMK was making a false propaganda that they were being closed.
