Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Harsahay Meena, held a meeting with government officials at the Coimbatore Collector’s office on Thursday to discuss the status of the public distribution scheme.
During his visit, Harsahay Meena inspected the Consumable Trading Corporation Warehouses in Karumathampatti and Poosaripalayam, as well as the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Credit Union Fair Price Shop. He reviewed the availability and quality of essential goods such as rice, wheat, and palm oil.
Commenting on the public distribution scheme, Meena stated, "The motive of the public distribution scheme is to ensure the supply of necessary goods like rice, sugar, dhal, and wheat. These goods are provided to ration card holders regularly at all fair price shops. There are 1,536 fair price shops in Coimbatore, serving 11,42,536 people. Government officials must ensure the availability of goods at all fair price shops and oversee their seamless distribution to ration card holders. Officials responsible for food supply must be accountable and understand their importance in the process."
The meeting was also attended by Coimbatore Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, District Revenue Officer M Sharmila, and other government officials.
