The headmaster of government elementary school at Anuparpalayam near Sathyamangalam in Erode, has been visiting the school in an inebriated state, alleged parents of the school students.
The headmaster - John Xavior - was transferred to the school where more than 50 students are studying, about a month ago. Since then he has been consuming alcohol during the school hours and failed to teach the students, alleged villagers who picketed the school and prohibited the headmaster from entering the school premises on Monday.
Subsequently, officials including block education officer Saravanan, Sathyamangalam panchayat union president Ilango, Block development officer Prem Kumar rushed to the school and pacified the protesters. During which, the villagers had said that as many as 17 students had moved to other schools in the last one month after the headmaster made it a habit to consume alcohol during the class hours, putting the life of the students at stake.
The villagers sought immediate action against the headmaster. Pacifying the protestors, the officials assured to take action against him.
