A high-mast national flag was installed in Wellington Cantonment by the Madras Regimental Centre on Wednesday. The impressive 108-foot-high flag mast for the national flag has been installed at the Ava Hill complex of The Madras Regimental Centre with assistance from the Flag Foundation of India. It was inaugurated by Commandant Defence Services Staff College, Lt Gen Virendra Vats, in a ceremonial event attended by senior officials of the Indian Army, civil administration, ex-servicemen and school children.
Ava Hill holds special significance as a bastion of tradition and discipline of the Madras Regiment, being the main training area of Agniveers. The flag stands tall, overlooking the entire Wellington, Arvankadu and Coonoor Valley, thus serving as a constant reminder of our shared identity and national spirit that guides all Indians forward.
