Kumbakonam Sessions Court has pronounced a death sentence to a history-sheeter Kattai Raja of Thanjavur district.
Kattai Raja from Thanjavur has been involved in various criminal cases like murder, robbery and burglary in various areas including Pattiswaram, and Kumbakonam. There are 16 murder cases against him.
Meanwhile, Kattai Raja went missing in 2013 after killing Senthilnathan at Chenniyamangalam near Thippirajapuram in Kumbakonam. The police, who had been searching for him for years, arrested and imprisoned him.
In this case, the verdict was adjourned after all the arguments in the aforementioned murder case. Following this, Kumbakonam fast track court judge Benjamin Joseph pronounced the verdict today. According to the verdict, Raja has been sentenced to death.
The court also sentenced Raja's accomplices including his uncle Arumugam and brother Selvam to life imprisonment.
