Hospital workers seek regularisation

Tamil Nadu Multipurpose Hospital Workers Association - TNMPHWA (Affiliated with Tamil Nadu Government Employees Union) Erode District Executive Committee Meeting was held on Oct 15 under the Chairmanship AITUC National Secretary DM Murthy.
The following resolutions were passed:  About 3,000 people work as multipurpose medical workers in rural and urban primary health centers in Tamil Nadu.
They have been recommended by employment offices since 2013.  About 200 people are working as multipurpose medical staff on daily wage basis in more than 75 rural and urban primary health centers in Erode district. They are given the minimum wages fixed by the district collector.
They are working continuously from 2 years to 10 years. But till date none of them have been made permanent.
The meeting insists that all the multi-purpose medical staff who have served should be made permanent immediately and paid time scale.
A minimum wage of Rs.26,000/- per month should be fixed. For Multipurpose Medical Staff in Erode District Minimum Wages for the year 2023-2024 was fixed by the District Collector on 26-10-2023. Accordingly, Rs. 724/-, Rs.609/-, Rs.532/-, Rs.455/- was fixed as minimum wage in Corporation, Municipality, town panchayat and village panchayat respectively.
But, in other districts, uniform wage is fixed.
Therefore, the same salary (Rs. 724/- per day) fixed for the Corporation Multi-Purpose Medical Staff, should be given in other areas also.
The meeting requests that it should be provided from 1-4-2023.
The meeting demands that all statutory benefits be provided to the workers.
