Amazon revealed that the month-long Great Indian Festival (GIF) 2022 saw the biggest-ever shopping festival for its brand partners and merchants on Amazon.in, delighting millions of customers around the nation.
Prime Early Access for GIF 2022 began on September 22 and went live for all users on September 23.
More than 70% of sellers nationwide were from Tier 2-3 towns and cities. More than 4,000 sellers experienced sales growth of 5X or more. Over 4,000 sellers witnessed sales growth of more than 25X. Home, apparel, beauty, and kitchen categories were the most popular for SMBs. Over 35,000 sellers achieved their highest-ever single-day sales. Over 650 sellers became crorepatis and 23,000 sellers became lakhpatis.
Local Shops on Amazon merchants recorded a 2X gain compared to the usual business day and sold more than 8 items each minute. During GIF 2022, more than 340 neighbourhood businesses converted to lakhpatis.
Amazon Great Indian Festival (GIF 2022) saw 1.2x higher Prime member sign ups and 3 out of 5 signups coming from Tier2-3 towns/cities including, Agartala, Bellary, Cuttack, Warangal, Jalgaon and Bhilwara.
