HVCT supports Veterinary student’s education at RIVER

HVCT supports Veterinary student’s education at RIVER

The Hurricane Vets Charitable Trust (HVCT) has extended financial support to S. Mohanapriya, a third-year BVSc & AH student at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry.
Coming from a single-parent household, Mohanapriya faced financial hardships as her mother struggled to support her education.
Recognizing her perseverance, Dr. R Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head of the Division of Animal Husbandry at Annamalai University, stepped in to sponsor her education in memory of her late mother, Srimathi R.M.R. Meenatchi Aachi.
The initiative was brought to HVCT’s attention by Dr. A. Varun, Assistant Professor at RIVER, and Dr. R Richard Churchil, EC Member of HVCT. Following a review, the HVCT Board of Trustees approved the proposal, securing Mohanapriya’s academic future.
On March 27, HVCT representatives, faculty members from RIVER, and the sponsor formally extended their support in a gathering that marked HVCT’s 112th project. The event began with Dr. S Vigil Anbiah, HVCT Secretary, outlining the organization’s mission. Dr. Richard Churchil honored RIVER Dean Dr. V Sejian with a shawl in recognition of his contributions to education.
Dr. Sejian’s words of encouragement reassured Mohanapriya of ongoing support in her academic journey.
In an emotional moment, she expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Vijayalakshmi and HVCT for their generosity, proving that community-driven efforts can make a lasting impact on students striving for a better future.
