ICAI and ICCIC Organize Seminar on World MSME Day to Empower Entrepreneurs

In commemoration of ‘World MSME Day’, celebrated annually on June 27th,  a one-day seminar titled "Empowering MSMEs: Compliance, Credit & Competitiveness" was organized by the Coimbatore Branch of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in association with the Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Coimbatore (ICCIC). The event was held at ICAI Bhawan, Thudiyalur.

The seminar featured Mr. Arun Chaudhary, Scientist ‘G’ and Director, Directorate of Industry Interface & Technology Management (DIITM), DRDO, and Dr. M.D. Varunn, Pulmonologist and Medical Superintendent, PSG Super Specialty Hospital, Coimbatore, as the Chief Guest. CA. S. Rajesh, Member, SIRC of ICAI, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.

The event was marked by engaging and interactive sessions that provided valuable insights on a wide range of topics crucial to MSMEs and startups. Sessions covered areas such as tax planning strategies, compliance nuances, industry-led growth for engineering MSMEs, strategic finance, and the role of virtual CFO support. A highlight of the event was a thought-provoking panel discussion titled “Breaking Barriers for MSME Growth: Finance, Formalization & Future-Readiness.”

Key dignitaries present at the press conference included Mr. Rajesh Lund, President, ICCIC; CA. Sathish R., Chairman, Coimbatore Branch of ICAI; CA. S. Rajesh, Member, SIRC of ICAI; CA. Pravin Kumar N., Program Coordinator; CA. Thangavel M., Secretary, CBE-ICAI; and Mr. N. Pradeep, Honorary Secretary, ICCIC.

Speaking to the media, CA. Sathish R. emphasized that the primary objective of the seminar was to raise awareness about the MSME sector and highlight the wide range of government schemes and financial opportunities available to support its growth. He underscored that this knowledge is crucial not only for existing entrepreneurs but also for college students—many of whom are participating this year—who aspire to launch their own ventures. He added that the seminar acts as a vital bridge to close the information gap and inspire the next generation of business leaders.

Mr. Rajesh Lund highlighted the seminar’s value for both aspiring entrepreneurs and existing MSME owners. He added that participants have a unique opportunity to interact with industry experts and explore funding solutions offered by leading banks that have set up stalls at the venue.

CA. Rajesh added that ICAI is organizing similar initiatives across the country to mark World MSME Day, including walkathons, seminars, and conferences. He reiterated ICAI’s long-standing commitment to the promotion and development of the MSME sector, which he described as vital to India’s economic growth. He pointed out that Coimbatore has always been a vibrant industrial hub, known for its dynamic entrepreneurial spirit, and events like these reinforce its position on the national map.
