Centre of Advanced Study in Marine Biology, Annamalai University, got accreditation for its BFSc course from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi.
The council announced the accreditation of 5 years for B.F.Sc. course (a four year professional degree course). Prof. P. Anantharaman, Dean, Faculty of Marine Sciences and Prof. M. Kalaiselvam, Director of the CAS Marine Biology said “Achieving the recognising standards for the course prove our continuous commitment to the academic levels. Due to ICAR accreditation, the faculty and students will get financial support for their studies and infrastructure facilities.
The B.F.Sc., was started in 2015. Nearly 160 students passed out and were studying in different ICAR institutes and other fisheries sector across India.
Some of the students were also placed in multinational companies. B.F.Sc.students and faculty members thanked Vice-chancellor Dr. RM. Kathiresan, Registrar Dr. K. Seetharaman, Controller ofExaminations Dr. M. Prakash, IQAC Director Dr.S.Arivudainambi, for their support during the process of accreditation.
Besides Dr. D. Balu secretary of All India Agricultural Students Association (AIASA) and Selvi. K. Kruthiusha president of Portonovo (AIASA) fisheries chapter were also present. The students will get admission for higher studies in State, Central and Deemed Universities all over India due to the accreditation by ICAR.
