ICAR- South Zone Sports tournament gets underway

The ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) South Zone Inter-institutional Sports Tournament, being organized by ICAR – Sugarcane Breeding Institute, was inaugurated by Hariharan Sivaramasubramaniam, Deputy General Manager, State Bank of India in Coimbatore at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Coimbatore on April 8.
Over 27 institutes in the southern region of the country, including ICAR-IARI, New Delhi and ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai are participating in this four-day event during 8-11 April 2025.

Dr R. Selvarajan, Director, ICAR-NRCB, Tiruchirappalli in his address said that ICAR conducts these events regularly, so that its employees are happy, energetic, healthy and productive. Referring to Ms. Saina Nehwal, the renowned badminton player and daughter of an ICAR employee, he called upon the participating sportspersons to encourage the younger generation to engage in sports activities.

Dr. C. Palaniswami, Organizing Secretary, proposed a formal vote of thanks.
Over 965 ICAR employees from various ICAR institutions from different states 
attended.
