IMD predicts cyclonic circulation in South Andaman sea

Days after cyclone ‘Mandous’ wreaked havoc in Tamil Nadu, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted another cyclonic circulation in South Andaman sea.
Regional director of IMD P Senthamarai Kannan said, “The atmospheric circulation found over the Andaman sea is expected to intensify into a depression in the upcoming days.

Due to the prevalence of atmospheric mantle circulation over the northern parts of Tamil Nadu, several parts of the state and Puducherry would receive light to modern rainfall from December 12 to 15.”

He also said the regions including Lakshadeep islands, coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka and Southeast and central Arabian sea would witness wind at the speed of 40 – 45 kmph on December 12 and 13.  Fishermen were advised against venturing into the sea.
