Income Tax Raid at TN Film Producers houses and offices

Sleuths from the Income Tax (IT) department are conducting search operations at 40 places including the premises of famous Tamil film producers on Tuesday. 

The IT department raided the houses and offices of film producers Anbuchezhian, SR Prabhu,, Gnanavelraja, Thiagarajan and Kalaipuli S Thanu. The raid started around 5 am and is expected to be continued throughout the day. In the massive crackdown, most of the film financiers are being raided by the IT  department. 

This is the third time that financier and producer Anbuchezian has been raided by Income Tax officials - once in 2020 after reports of unaccounted transactions and once in 2017. 

The raids in 2020 were conducted after the IT department raided actor Vijay’s house and during the search operation, about Rs 70 crore was seized by the officials.
