The MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2025 returns to the Madras International Circuit on Friday after a two-month break, with 162 riders from 18 teams set for action in the third round.
The three-day event features 21 races across six National Championship categories, besides the Petronas TVS One-Make Championship and the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup.
Close battles have marked the season so far, with victories decided by fractions of a second. Young riders from diverse regions have brought fresh energy to the grids.
Notably, racers from the North-East have emerged as strong contenders. Aizawl riders Lal Nunsanga (Motul Sparks Racing) and Daniel Lalhriatkima
(Yakuza Racing India) won a race each in the Coimbatore round of the Novice (Stock 165cc) class, keeping them in the title hunt.
Nunsanga said motorsport has a strong following in the North-East but participation is expensive. “Our local associations and teams support us with travel and stay, and we are grateful for this,” he said.
The spotlight will be on the Pro-Stock 301-400cc Open, led by Hyderabad’s Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1) and Pune teenager Sarthak Chavan (Petronas TVS Racing), with two wins each in four races.
In the Pro-Stock 165-200cc Open, Bengaluru’s Savion Sabu (Mad Rabbit Racing) is unbeaten so far. Hyderabad’s Mohammed Samrul Zubair (Motul Sparks Racing) leads the new Super Stock Intermediate Up to 165cc, while Bengaluru’s Varun Patil (Mad Rabbit Racing) tops the Stock 301-400cc (Novice).
The Stock 165cc (Novice) is wide open, with seven riders including Hyderabad’s Rajender Beedani (MAI Racing) and CS Kedarnadh (Motul KTM Gusto Racing) in close contention.
In the Girls (Stock 165cc), Chennai’s Jagathishree Kumaresan (One Racing) leads with two wins at Coimbatore, followed by former champion Ann Jennifer (Motul Sparks Racing), who also has two victories.
Jagathishree is also ahead in the Women’s Petronas TVS One-Make Championship. Mumbai’s Sarah Khan is second, while Chennai’s Mohan Babu and Coimbatore’s Hari Haran lead the Expert (Apache RR 310) and Rookie (Apache RTR 200) classes.
In the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (Honda CB 300F), Chennai’s Solomon R holds a narrow lead over Tumakuru’s Tejash BS.
