The Omani team won the gold medal and the Indian team won the silver medal in the karate competition held in Coimbatore.
The Coimbatore District Karate Sports Association held an international karate championship yesterday. The competition was held at the PSG College campus on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. 520 players from five countries, including India, Thailand, Oman, Malaysia, and Indonesia, participated in this competition.
Players from states including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry participated on behalf of India. Karate competitions were held in various categories, from five years old to 10 years old, without any age limit. In this, the Oman team won the gold medal and the Indian team won the silver medal. The Indian team, which won the most medals, won the title of Champion of Champions. Sports Karate Association President Karthikeyan, Secretary Selvaraj and others presented medals and certificates to the winners. Karate coaches from Malaysia had also come to watch the competition.
