Additional Chief Secretary of the Public Works Department, Mangat Ram Sharma, and District Collector D Bhaskara Pandian inspected the buildings under construction by the Public Works Department in Tiruvannamalai district.
In the Tiruvannamalai district collector’s office complex, new facilities are being constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.17 crores. These include a grievance redressal meeting hall for 840 people, separate office rooms, a registration section, a visitor waiting room, a computer section, and separate toilet facilities for men and women, all with lift access. The officials inspected this new building.
Additionally, the construction of a 50-bed Intensive Care Unit at Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital is underway at a cost of Rs. 20 crores. This facility will include operating theaters, a CT scan room, an X-ray room, a dispensary, post-operative male and female emergency wards, a fully equipped consultation hall, a blood bank, a laboratory, a recovery room, and two 20-passenger lift facilities for treating critical patients.
To improve the infrastructure of government schools, a model school building of 57,675 square feet is being constructed for the education of 800 students at the cost of Rs. 24.28 crores. This building will feature a modern library, office, sports hall, and solar facilities. The Additional Chief Secretary of Public Works instructed the officers to expedite the work after inspecting these facilities.
During the inspection, Public Works Executive Engineer (Tiruvannamalai) K Gauthaman, the Principal of Government Medical College Hospital, and other departmental officers were present.
