The International Tai Chi Conference – ITCC 2024, was inaugurated today. The 4-day long conference being held in The Coimbatore Club is being organized by Nitya Gurukula.
Internationally acclaimed Tai Chi expert Dr. Paul Lam, Director of Tai Chi Health Institute, Sydney, Australia was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. Sivasailam Narayanan, Director, Bimetal Bearings, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included, Ms. Sashi Chandran, CEO, Nitya Gurkula, Mr. Prashant Chandran, Trustee Nitya Gurkula and Ms. Sudha Sundaram, COO, Nitya Gurkula.
Over 400 Tai Chi enthusiasts have registered for the event being held from 19-22 September, 2024, which is being held with the theme,’ Wholeness & Wellness in Relationships.’
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Paul Lam said that the ancient art of Tai Chi is still relevant even in today’s time. He said that several studies have shown the effectiveness of Tai Chi in improving mental and physical health apart from strengthening immunity. Citing his own example, Dr. Paul Lam mentioned that when he went to Australia for his studies, his arthritis had got bad and his immunity levels were also low.
He said after he took up Tai Chi practice his health has transformed totally.
He mentioned that even after maintaining a hectic schedule traveling and teaching Tai Chi around the world, for the past 25 odd years, he has been enjoying excellent health. He said that regular practice of Tai Chi harmonizes the mind, body and spirit.
Dr. Lam mentioned that Tai Chi helps with creating harmony, peace and health in the body and can help make the world a better place.
Mr. Srinivasan in his address wished the program all success and stated that the conference will take the ancient art of Tai Chi to a larger audience in Coimbatore.
Ms. Sashi Chandran said that it was a privilege to have globally reputed leader in Tai Chi, Dr. Paul Lam as part of the conference.
She mentioned that over 10 million students worldwide, Dr. Paul Lam was a true global citizen.
Earlier Mr. Prashant Chandran, introduced the Chief Guest and delivered the welcome address.
Ms. Sudha Sundaram, proposed the vote of thanks on the occasion.
