International Wildlife Week observed at Ooty

The Nilgiris Collector Ms. Lakshmi Bhavya flagged off an awareness rally regarding International Wildlife Week in Ooty on Tuesday.
International Wildlife Week is celebrated every year from October 2 to 8. 
Various awareness programs and seminars were conducted by the Forest Department in the Nilgiris district to create awareness among the public. 
As a part of it, about 80 students from Utagai Government Arts College participated the rally. Later, the District Collector told reporters:The forest department is taking various initiatives in collaboration with the district administration to prevent human-animal conflict. 
If wild animals are seen in the residential areas, the public can contact the toll-free numbers. 
Then the forest department will go to the concerned place and take appropriate action she said.  
The event was attended by District Forest Officers Mr. Gautham (Utagai), Mr.Vengtesh Prabhu (Gudalur), Utagai Government Arts College Prof. Ramakrishnan and forest officials.
