ISRO Scientist Nigar Saji advocates lifelong learning and Scientific Education at Salem Book Fair

ISRO Scientist and Aditya L1 Project Director, Mrs. Nigar Saji, addressing the audience at its ongoing Book Festival on Monday, emphasized the pivotal role of book festivals in revitalizing the dwindling reading habits among the younger generation.

Highlighting the indispensable nature of education for societal and individual progress, she stressed the importance of fostering scientific literacy, asserting that science education holds a key position in this realm.

Mrs. Saji underscored the correlation between literacy rates, societal impediments, and education, citing poverty and ignorance as significant hurdles to societal advancement that can be overcome through education. She hailed projects like Chandrayaan 3 and Aditya L1 for their instrumental role in deepening students' understanding of scientific concepts, further elevating the nation's global standing.

Expanding the discourse beyond formal education, she advocated for a lifelong learning approach, acknowledging the rapid evolution of scientific theories in the age of the internet and science. 

Following her address, Mrs. Saji engaged with students, delving into the intriguing topic of "Challenges of Space Travel." The event witnessed the presence of Project Director (Women Project) Mr. P. Periyaswamy, enthusiastic school students, and members of the public, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and insights.
