Jackfruit sales gear up in Coimbatore

Jackfruit sales have been gearing up in the city. Jackfruit season which begins in March, continues till late August. The fruit started reaching the city in March from Panruti and Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu, and various districts in Kerala. The fruit is sold for Rs 30 to Rs 60 per kilogram in Ukkadam in the city. According to traders, the fruits received from Pudukkottai are more expensive than others. However, the price is expected to drop if the supply increases.
