JACTTO- GEO district coordinator S Vijayamanoharan appealed to the district election officer and collector to remove the confusion surfaced in the district due to appointment of presiding officers in the polling stations.
In a petition to the PA (elections) to the Collector, he said that in some cases in the district the higher officials were posted as polling officers and the staff working under them as presiding officers above them. It led to some confusion. The appointment of inexperienced persons as presiding officers would cause delay in polling. So, according to their postion, the officers should be given chief presiding officer and the staff lower to their ranks be given the next posts in the polling stations. The election staff working in Thalavadi Hill areas were not given training in that Taluk. They were asked to come to far flung Sathy taluk for election training class causing much hardship to over 700 staff of Thalavadi Taluk. The newly constructed government arts and science college in Thalavadi has adequate facilities so that the training class can be arranged there. The staff who underwent surgeries and medical treatment should be exempted from election work. The memorandum was signed by JACTTO GEO union leaders S Vijayamanoharan,
R Mani, S Nehru, P Saravanan and L Prabu.
