Jewellery manufacturing training institute inaugurated

To meet the workers need of diamond jewellery and gold ornaments manufacturing units, a new institute to train women in the sector, claimed to be the first in South India, was inaugurated at Coimbatore by Mr.Jeyanthilal Chalini, president, Jewellers and Diamond Traders Association Tamilnadu, along with Coimbatore office bearers Mr.Sabarinath, Mr.Muthuvenkatram and  Mr.Karthik.

It will train 1,000 women and also transgenders in a year, to cater to the needs of the units across TN,  particularly Coimbatore, the Institute head,Akhilandeshwari Muralidharan told reporters here on Thursday.
As against required 40 hands in new jerwellery shops, only 10 hands are available at present. 

The institute will  help the workers  get placement with a minimum salary of Rs.20,000 per month in jewellery shops, she added. Though, the institute has fixed the minimum qualification of tenth standard fail, it will train even uneducated, Muralidharan, a professor, who used to teach the workers and owners of jewellery shops for the last 35 yeas, said. The workers should take at least 30 days training and the period can go upto 90 days for better prospects, he said.
