John Sullivan remembered

Nilgiris District Udagai Government Botanical Gardens Road is a triangle shaped place where Udagai city was found and built 200 years ago by John Sullivan.

 On the occasion of his memorial day, Minister of Tourism K. Ramachandran paid respects to the idol of him by wearing a garland. District Collector M. Aruna presided.

In his speech, the Minister said: John Sullivan, born in London, served as the District Collector of Coimbatore from 1815 to 1830. He is very interested in the natural environment. Ooty Lake was created due to his efforts. He died on 16.01.1855. His statue was unveiled on 21.05.2022 by the CM. 

Earlier, he  handed over the keys of the new vehicle worth 18 lakh to the District Panchayat Chairman Mr. M. Ponthos.

Udagai Municipal Council Deputy Chairman Ravikumar, District Planning Committee Member  George, Udagai RDO Saravanakumar and many others participated in the event.
