On August 14, 28 people were appointed as priests in the temples under the control of the Tamil Nadu Government's Hindu Religious Endowment Department. Four of them are Scheduled Castes.
The Madras High Court has given a historic verdict that the Tamil Nadu government's rules will apply in the matter of priests from all castes.
It has also been ruled that priests should be appointed in accordance with Agama rules in temples operating according to Agama rules.Which temples in Tamil Nadu follow Agama rules? The High Court has also ordered the formation of a five-member committee to find out which temples are not following Agama rules.
This five-member group will also include those who know Agama. What will happen if those who get such a place declare all the temples as Agama temples?
That this becomes dangerous has become a concern of priestly trainees. There is no doubt that the judgment given by the bench led by the Chief Justice of the High Court(The appointment of priests of the Government of Tamil Nadu and the relevant rules will go) is a historic victory. All the objections were dismissed.
This is a Himalayan victory for the DravidaMunnetraKazhagam, which is independent of caste, religion and race, and the party government. No one can deny that our Chief Minister M.K.Stalin is the historical hero of social justice.
We welcome the High Court verdict. Congratulations and gratitude to Chief Minister M.K.Stalin!
