Kallakurichi student death: Parents accept the High Court orders to receive the body

Kallakurichi student death: Parents accept the High Court orders to receive the body

The Madras High Court had warned the parents of the student, who was found dead in a private school hostel in Kallakurichi district last week, to receive the body of the deceased.

The direction was given while hearing the petition filed by the Tamil Nadu government requesting the court to direct the parents to accept their daughter’s body as a re-postmortem was completed as the court direction.
The girl’s body is kept at the Kallakurichi government hospital.

During the hearing, the parent’s counsel had argued that there had been a suspicion of malpractice in the re-postmortem report.

Responding to it, Justice Sathishkumar questioned, “Do you have trust in the High Court or not? Why are you refusing to accept the girl’s body despite the court’s direction?”
Explaining the procedures that are being followed while performing post-mortem, the panel constituted by the court said that no new evidence was found during the re-postmortem.
The court further asked the parents to seek justice for their deceased daughter in a peaceful manner and not to put obstacles at each stage.
The judge directed the panel to submit all the documents related to the re-postmortem to JIPMER hospital in Puducherry and a three-membered team from JIPMER hospital would review the documents and submit a report within a month.

He also directed the parents to receive the body of the deceased before 11 am on Saturday and to inform their decision on the same before 12 pm on Friday.
After the orders of the Judge, parents of the dead student informed the court that they will receive the body tomorrow  (Saturday) between 7am to 8 am.
