Kanimozhi apologies for her partymen’s derogatory remark against BJP women leaders

DMK’s general secretary and Thoothukudi MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi on Thursday apologized after a DMK functionary had made a derogatory statement against women leaders from BJP. In a public meeting organized by the DMK at RK Nagar constituency in Chennai, the party’s functionary Saidai Sadiq had used a derogatory term to mention actors turned politicians Khushbu Sundar, Gayathri Raguraman, Namitha and Gauthami while talking about BJP in the state.

After the video which was widely shared on social media platforms, Sadiq was condemned and criticized for his remarks from all the coroners.   Taking it to Twitter, Khushbu has said, “When men abuse women, it just shows what kind of upbringing they have had and the toxic environment they were brought up in. These men insult the womb of a woman. Such men call themselves followers of Kalaignar. Is this new Dravidian model under Honorable Chief Minister MK Stalin rule?”

Extending an apology for her partymen’s remark, Kanimozhi has said, “I apologize as a woman and human being for what was said. This can never be tolerated irrespective of whoever did it, of the space it was said or the party they adhere to. And I’m able to openly apologize for this because my leader MK Stalin and my party don’t condone this.” Accepting her apologies, Khusbhu had called Kanimozhi as someone who has always stood up for women’s dignity and self-respect.
