Kathir College honours women achievers with Singa Pengal award

Kathir College of Arts and Science marked International Women’s Day with the ‘Kathir’s Singa Pengal Awards’ ceremony, celebrating the achievements of women across various fields.
Dr. V Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, attended as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the crucial role of women in national development and acknowledged government initiatives and private enterprises, including Sakthi Masala, for their contributions to women's empowerment. Citing examples like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, she emphasized education as the foundation for women's progress.
The event was presided over by ES Kathir, Chairman of Kathir Educational Institutions, with a welcome address by Lavanya Kathir, Secretary. Vice Chairman ESK Mithilesh and Joint Secretary Dr. M Vidhupradiksha Mithilesh honored the awardees, recognising their contributions in various fields.
Distinguished guests included Dr. K Udayakumar, Principal of Kathir Engineering College, Dr. S Krithika, Principal of Kathir College of Education, and Dr. Bhanumathi, DDUGKY Coordinator. Faculty members and students also participated in the celebration.
Dr. R Karpagam, Principal of Kathir College of Arts and Science, coordinated the event, which concluded with a strong message of continuing efforts toward women's education and empowerment. The awards reaffirmed Kathir College’s commitment to promoting excellence among young women.
