As summer season has peaked Tamilnadu reels under severe heat. In many districts the tempreture has exceeded 100 degrees and the people are facing hardship. With this, Agni Nakshatiram (or Kathri season) has begun and will continue for 25 days till May 28.
Following an awareness programme about the summer heat, Ma.Subramanian, Minister for Health and Family Welfare told press persons that it would be better for people to carry water bottles when they venture out till the summer seasons ends.” Whether thirsty or not, drinking adequate water is advised. It would be better to consume juices including lemon juice,” he said.
The Minister said that the public have been told not to venture out between 11 a.m to 3.00 p.m. While going out it is advisable to cover the head with a cloth, towel or cap. People should avoid walking without footwear. Bottled cool drinks should be avoided.
It is better to reduce consumption of alcoholic drinks as it would affect body during the summer. Protein rich diet and old food items should be avoided.
Children should not climb over vehicles parked outside the houses.
Beds are ready at government hospitals to treat people affected by the summer heat. In the event of any physical effect due to summer heat people should contact government hospitals, said the health minister.
