Ryots need not fear about Kezhbavani (LBP) irrigation canal modernization project, said former Environment Minister and AIADMK Erode Suburban East District Secretary KC Karuppannan.
Addressing AIADMK Perundurai East Union activists meeting at Seenapuram on Sunday he said Tamil Nadu is the most developed state in the country. The main reason for this is the former chief ministers MGR and Jayalalithaa.
It was during their rule various schemes were introduced. Especially during the MGR period Erode district was formed. Many projects like Erode District Collector's Office, Court, Medical College and Engineering College were constructed during the MGR period .No significant scheme was introduced during the subsequent Karunanidhi regime. Former CM Edappadi K Palanichamy (EPS) also has come up with various projects. A few years ago, the LBP canal broke and he was the one who allocated funds to modernise the canal.
Both the banks of the canal will be reinforced with cement. But, the bottom surface would not be concertised. EPS initiated similar work in Mettur canal. Farmers here can visit the nearby Mettur Canal if they have any doubts. The water goes properly up to the tail end there.
Water flows rapidly in the Tanjore delta districts also. So, no one needs to worry about LBP project. He allotted Rs 1600 crore for the implementation of over 60 year old Athikkadavu Avinashi project .But the DMK government has come to power by making various false promises. But now they are struggling to accomplish it.
If the DMK comes to power, there will be a power cut. In the past, the then DMK Electricity Minister Arcad Veerasamy openly said that if the DMK loses the next election, it will because of power cut. In 2011 poll, Jayalaithaa promised to provide electricity 24 hours and fulfilled the promise within a year, But, now, once DMK came to power, the power cut has started again. Ministers are not responding to questions about any plans in the legislature.
Under our rule the legislature was functioning properly.Edappadi rule would soon blossom in the state, he said. Perundurai MLA S Jayakumar presided. East Union Secretary Aruljothi Selvaraj, former MLA Ponnuthurai and district secretary Mani and many functionaies were present.
