Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is a pan India contest conducted by Ministry of Education with a mission to foster innovation and start-up ecosystem among college students. SIH 2022 was conducted for hardware and software projects in 75 nodal centers across India. A student team named Chem-Flash from Department of Chemical Engineering, Kongu Engineering College (KEC), Perundurai led by Priyanga.A, along with Dinakaran.U, Pranav Balaji.K.R, Gukan.R, Subburaj.S and Megavarshini.S guided by Mr.Pranav Sankaran and Mr.G.Mugaishudeen, Assistant Professors of the same department participated in the SIH 2022 at Bilai Institute of Technology, Durg, Chattisgarh.
They developed a novel sanitary napkin that can be used on both sides. It is made up of natural fibers. So it is hygienic and eco-friendly. Also, those who are using this napkin, need not to carry an extra napkin for a day. The student team pitched their product in Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Version and won a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. The team was appreciated by Thiru.A.K.Ilango, Correspondent, KEC, Dr.V.Balusamy, Principal, KEC, Dr.R.Parameshwaran, CCO TBI and Dr.K.Kannan, HoD, Department of Chemical Engineering.
