KMCH in partnership with the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN), successfully hosted "Life After Life 2025, an organ donor felicitation program, today at the KMCH Auditorium. The event was held as part of the World Organ Donor Appreciation Week, a global commemoration that takes place in the second week of August every year. The program. honored the selfless contributions of over 20 donors and their families, who are considered the true champions of the 'life after life' concept.
Dr.Nalla G Palaniswami Chairman, KMCH, gave the presidential address. Dr. Arun N Palaniswami Executive Director, KMCH gave the keynote address. He has encouraged living organ donors to come forward to meet the shortfall.
The event's chief guest, Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, Member Secretary of TRANSTAN, addressed the gathering. The program included a presentation by Prof.Dr.R.Kannadhasan Medical Superintendent, CMCH and Dr. C. Manoharan, HOD of Forensic Medicine at Govt. Medical College & ESI Hospital, Coimbatore, and the screening of a short video on organ donation.
Dr. T.P. Kalaniti, Director of Health Sciences at KMCH, gave the welcome address. Dr. S. Kandasamy, Consultant Nephrologist at KMCH, presented statistics on cadaver donor organ donation activities at the hospital.
During the occasion, a Students' Charter of Deceased Organ Donation Programme was started at KMCH. Under the joint initiative of KMCH Medical College and Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN), student volunteers will be trained to serve as "Ambassadors "of the programme. EN. Gopalakrishnan, Member Secretary, TRANSTAN explained the potential roles of the charter on the occasion. Dr. K. Dhilipan, Consultant Emergency Medicine at KMCH, proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. A.N. Murugan, Medical Director and Maj Gen (Dr.) R. Ravikumar (RETD), Dean, KMCHIHSR, also graced the occasion.
