The Society of Oncologic Imaging (SOI) recently held its national conference in Coimbatore, marking the first time the prestigious event has been hosted in the city. The three-day conference, held from August 15-17 at the Merlis Hotel, was organized by Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH).
The conference brought together nearly 600 radiologists from across India to focus on the advancement of cancer imaging and the critical role of early detection in improving patient outcomes.
KMCH, led by Chairman Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami and Dr. Arun Palaniswami, Executive Director, is home to a state-of-the-art comprehensive cancer center.
The conference was particularly timely, given the growing burden of cancer in India.
The event focused on the standardization of cancer reporting, a crucial initiative to ensure consistent communication of medical information across different hospitals and regions.
The event also featured a competitive paper presentation, with medals awarded for the best submissions.
Dr. Mathew Cherian, Chief of Radiology Services at KMCH, served as the organizing chairman, and Dr. Venketesh, Lead Consultant for Abdominal Imaging and Ablation Therapy at KMCH, was the organizing secretary.
The society's president, Dr. Bhagyam, and general secretary, Dr. Pankaj Sharma, were instrumental in leading the organization and ensuring the conference's success.
