KMCH pioneers Next-Generation Nuclear Medicine with TN's First Symbia Pro.Specta SPECT/CT

KMCH pioneers Next-Generation Nuclear Medicine with TN's First Symbia Pro.Specta SPECT/CT

Kovai Medical Center and Hospital (KMCH), a beacon of healthcare innovation in South India, today announced a significant leap forward in diagnostic imaging with the installation of the Symbia Pro.specta SPECT/CT.
This momentous achievement marks. the 1st time this advanced system is available in Tamil Nadu and positions KMCH as only the 4th hospital in India to offer this state-of-the-art technology.
KMCH started Coimbatore's first SPECT/CT in 2011 and for last 15 years SPECT/CT has helped in imaging diagnosis of many functional diseases.
The Symbia Pro.specta SPECT/CT is an advanced imaging technique that combines SPECT (Single photon Emission computed tomography) with 32 slice CT (computed tomography). This allows doctors to see how organs are functioning and if there are any functional abnormalities at a very detailed level by using injected radioactive tracers.
Various nuclear medicine imaging technique routinely done at KMCH includes brain ictal perfusion, DAT scan for Parkinson disease, Heart Myocardial perfusion/ischemia/viability, Thyroid, Parathyroid adenoma, Lung perfusion, Bone disorders, DTPA GFR for kidney donors, Kidney function and obstruction, Liver function and drainage, Gastric and bowel transit time, RBC GI bleeding, MIBG scan, Lymphatic scan and sentinel node imaging. lodine 131 scan for thyroid cancer, Lutetium 177 post therapy scan for prostate cancer and Neuroendocrine tumors are also done.
