Kodanad heist-cum-murder case: Jayalalithaa’s driver appears for inquiry

Former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s driver Ayyapan appeared before CB-CID for an inquiry in connection with Kodanad heist-cum-murder case on Tuesday at their office in police training school in the city.

Speaking to reporters, Ayyapan said, “CB-CID summoned me for the inquiry for the first time. I am not sure of the police proceedings. I had been working as a driver for Jayalalithaa since 1991 and I maintained the vehicle till Sasikala was released from prison. I handed over the vehicle to her. I stopped working as a driver due to personal reasons. Kanagaraj started working with us since 2000 but he was terminated from work. Jayalalithaa is very strict and she expects us to follow her blindly. She will not tolerate disobedience. That’s why Kanagaraj was terminated from work. We did not expect the crime at Kodanad.”

“I don’t know anything about Kanagaraj’s brother Dhanapal. Following the demise of Jayalalithaa, I maintained five vehicles and based on the directions of Sasikala, I maintained them till she was released. I am not aware of the political happenings. I appeared before Ooty court in connection with the case once,” he added.
