La Ganesan takes additional charge as the governor of West Bengal

Manipur governor La Ganesan on Monday took additional charge as the governor of West Bengal. 
 

The oath of office was administered by chief justice of Calcutta High Court Prakash Shrivastava in the presence of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee at Raj Bhavan in Kolkata.

 Ganesan was given the additional responsibility following the resignation of the former governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar. Dhankhar, who has been made the vice president candidate by 
National Democratic Alliance, has filed his nomination papers for election on Monday. 
 

He is the second serving governor from Tamil Nadu after Tamilisai Soundararajan. 
While Tamilisai took oath as the governor of Telangana in 2019 and then took additional charge as the lieutenant governor of Puducherry, Ganesan 
who took oath as the governor of Manipur in 2021, has taken additional charge as the governor of West Bengal now.
