Lakhs of devotees took part in the Maruthamalai Subramania Swamy temple ‘Kumbabhishekam’ function that was held with great fanfare in the city.
It has been 12 years since the last ‘Kumbabhishekam’ was held at the temple. The ceremony began at 6 pm on March 30. Various events including playing auspicious music, raising the divine power to the Thirukudams, and transferring the Thirukudams from the Moolavar to the Yagashalai were performed during the event. Kumbabhishekam of the temple took place on Friday. It started at 4:30 am. Following it, a procession of Thirukudams was carried out from the Yagasalai.
The Kumbabhishekam was held for the Thiruchuthu Deities and Parivar Murthys between 6:00 and 6:45 in the morning. At 7:30 am, a procession of Thirukudams was carried out from the Yagasalai.
Following this, at 8:30 am, the Kumbabhishekam was held for the Maruthachala Moorthy Vimana, Adi Moolavar Vimana, Rajagopuram, Kodimaram, and Parivar Vimana.
At 9:00 am, the Kumbabhishekam was held for the deities Adi Moolavar, Vinayagar, Marudachala Murthy, Patteeswarar, Marakathambigai, Veerabahu, Karivarataraja Perumal, and Chandikeswarar. The main worship of the deity was followed by a grand abhishekam.
Following this, the Maha Abishekam for the main deity, Subramanya Swamy, was held at 4:30 pm. At 5:30 pm, the Thirukalyanam of Subramanya Swamy, Valli, and Deivanai was held. The idol was then taken out on a procession.
Several Atheenams, including Perur Atheenam Shanthalinga Marudachala Adikalar and Siravai Atheenam Kumaragurupara Swamigal, participated in the ceremony. Also present were Mayor Ranganayaki, Deputy Mayor Vetriselvan, Chairman of the Trust Committee Jayakumar, members Maheshkumar, Sukanya Rajaratnam, Premkumar, Sokkambudur Kanagaraj, DMK Arts and Literature Rationale Council State Deputy Secretary Meena Jayakumar, government officials, and many others.
The committee of trustees made all the arrangements for the function.
Special arrangements had been made for the devotees by the temple administration in connection with the Kumbabishekam. Special food was provided to the devotees by the Senthil Balaji Trust. The Kumbabhishekam has been completed, and lakhs of devotees from various districts including Tiruppur, Erode, Nilgiris, Madurai, and Karur, are standing in long queues to have darshan of the Lord today.
