Linking Aadhar number with electricity connection will have no impact on free electricity

Electricity minister V Senthil Balaji said that linking Aadhar number with electricity connection would not have any impact on availing 100 units of free electricity in the state.

The minister on Friday chaired a meeting with concerned officials from the electricity department to discuss the measures that are being taken to provide free electricity to 50,000 farmers in the state and the precautionary measures need to be taken to prevent untoward incidents during the monsoon seasons.

Speaking to reporters, the minister said, “Instructions were being given to the concerned officials to take necessary steps to provide uninterrupted power even during the heavy rainfall.

We have already commenced the maintenance works. Since June, we have replaced 44,000 faulty power poles. As of now, there are no cases of power disruptions in any part of the state.”

As far as power distribution is considered, if the power supply is disrupted due to rainfall then it would be rectified immediately based on the complaints, he said.“The Chief Minister himself has inspected Sirkali and distributed relief funds to the victims. Within 36 hours, maintenance works were carried out and power was restored in the region.

All the faulty power poles were replaced and repair works were done in about 46 transformers by bringing workers from Trichy, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pudukottai and Sirkali,” he said.

“In Chennai, the height of about 16 high-power transformers were altered and no major power interruption has taken place in the monsoon season this year. Linking Aadhar number with electricity connection will have no impact on the free electricity,” he added.
