Erode district all headload workers central union submitted a petition to the Erode RDO Premalatha seeking wage hike for lorry goods headload workers which was pending for the past 6 years. The workers led by union secretary and ex MLA KS Thennarasu and president Vijayakumar said ''wages are increased every three years for head load workers in all industries Accordingly, the pay hike for the lorry workers was negotiated. Six years ago, the pay hike was 41 per cent .
Then the lawsuit was filed in the Chennai High Court on behalf of the lorry agency and the companies. They said they would carry out the works by using outsiders. A petition was filed on behalf of the union objecting to this.After that no wage increase talks was held. Several petitions have been filed by the unions with the District Collector and the Deputy Collector of Erode in this regard.
In the meantime, the talks did not take place due to the Corona and Assembly elections by the RDO. So, sangam wanted the intervention of the RDO in the issue immediately to help workers to get adequate wage hike, they pleaded. Sangam executives Arumugam, Muniyappan, Gopal, Thangamuthu, Deivanayakam and Krishnan were presen.
