Lorry headload workers stir continues on 8th day in succession at Erode to press goods transport and regular lorry service association to give 41 percent wage hike, which is pending for the past 6 years, said the labour union leaders Manoharan, Thangavelu, Nallasamy, PV Arumugam and ex MLA Thennarasu. Housing Minister S Muthusamy constituted a committee, comprising trade unions and association leaders, to resolve the issue. But the association has agreed to give only 18 percent wage hike. So, the talks failed and the unions decided to continue the stir till July 27 to win over the demands. Six years back, 41 percent wage hike was given and now they sought similar hike only, they added.
